Prospective Marriage Visa / Fiancé(e) Visa  Are you looking at applying for a Prospective Marriage Visa or sometimes known as a Fiancé(e) Visa?

The Department of Immigration and Citizenship website has detailed information covering:

  • About this Visa
  • How much will this Visa Cost?
  • How this Visa Works
  • Eligibility
  • Obligations
  • Applying for this Visa

One of the Applicant Eligibility requirements for this Visa is "Intent to Marry".  As part of your application you will be required to provide supporting documentation of your "Intent to Marry".

Once you have engaged a Marriage Celebrant to officiate for your wedding ceremony you can request them to provide you with a "Visa" letter.  There is usually an addition charge for the production of the letter.

The letter the celebrant provides will be on their celebrant letterhead stating the names of the parties, the date the Notice of Intended Marriage Form has been lodged with the celebrant, and the date of the proposed marriage (or date range), and the proposed venue.
