Getting Butterflies just thinking about your Wedding Day!

Imagine the memories that will come from the breathtaking beauty of fluttering wings around you and your guests as you commemorate and share this special moment in your life.

Frequently asked Questions and Answers for a release of Butterfly on you wedding day

Q. How many butterflies do I need for a release?

A. How many butterflies you release, plus the choice of release method, depends on your preference and budget. A butterfly release can range from two individual butterflies up to 100 or more mass released! The choice is yours.

 Q. When should I place my order?

A. Orders are to be places at least 6 week prior to your wedding date to ensure availability of the butterflies, as we are taking orders up to 1 year in advance. We recommend that you order as early as possible to avoid disappointment. We may be able to fill orders within a shorter time period, subject to availability. We generally have some butterflies on hand for events where notice is not possible. If your event is less than 6 weeks away please contact us to discuss availability.

 Q. What temperature does it need to be to have a successful butterfly release?

A. Butterflies will only take flight when temperatures are 23 degrees and above. For a successful butterfly release, check the history of the average temperatures in your area at http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/averages/index.shtml.

 Q. Can butterflies be released at night?

A. There must be at least 1 hour of sunlight left in the day at the time of release, this is so the butterflies can find a place to roost for the night and therefore give the butterflies the best start to life.

 Q. What type of butterflies do you breed?

A. We specialise in naturally breeding and raising beautiful healthy Monarch butterflies. The Monarch butterfly is a spectacular butterfly and the most suitable for releasing ~ they are large and colourful and their flight pattern is graceful. They are also people friendly, strong and travel well.

 Q. What happens to the butterflies after the release?

A. The butterflies continue on their natural lifecycle as they begin their amazing migration which can cover thousands of miles all the while finding patches of nectar and host plants to feed and to lay their eggs upon. Releasing butterflies assists in replenishing the depleting butterfly population, as only 7% of butterflies survive in the wild due to environmental changes and a growing increase of pesticides and predators.

Q. Is it safe to ship butterflies?

A. Each butterfly is fed and carefully placed inside our specially tailored wedding packages designed to meet your individual needs and the safety of the butterflies.  They are surrounded by soft padding and packed in an insulated cooler with a "cool-pack".  The cool temperature combined with the minimal light keeps the butterflies in a natural state of hibernation for safe shipping. The butterflies are shipped via courier to arrive the day before the event.

 Q. I heard butterflies only live for two days. How can they survive the release?

A. This is largely a myth. Some species of butterflies do have a short lifespan. However Monarchs have a lifespan in excess of 6 weeks. Some Monarchs have been known to live for up to 6 months!
